I've been there, grappling with a difficult concept, yet determined to understand and meet my goals. As an undergrad at the University of Vermont and high school student, I was there. Sign up for an appointment and we can talk about the problems in front of you and how I can help you meet your long term goals. Coursework: high school Spanish, and entry level biology and chemistry.

I am a Master's level graduate in the biological sciences with an infectious enthusiasm for math, physics, biology, and chemistry. While I was in graduate school, I taught laboratory courses and tutored students outside of class. I've kept numerous emails from students who thanked me for giving them novel ways to study, one even raising her grade from a D to an A- over the course of the semester!I love to brainstorm ways to make information accessible to every uniquely wired mind and learning style. I focus heavily on checking students' understanding of basic concepts before trying to explore the more technical details. Often it is a misunderstanding of an "old" concept from many years back that is preventing full understanding of the current topic. As a scientist with keen observation and troubleshooting skills, I will look for specific roadblocks that are preventing your child from achieving excellence in the problem subject. My undergraduate degree was in philosophy, which was writing-intensive and highly analytical. I can help your child write persuasive, coherent, and stylish essays, as well as teach your child the skills to navigate the tricky questions found on standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. I will help your child to be a become a better test taker with the power of a critical eye.In my free time, you can find me in the ocean snorkeling, SCUBA diving, or just floating on the sea and basking in the sun.

I have a AS degree in Mathematics and a BS degree in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University. I am an aspiring physician who recently took the MCAT. I have been a tutor for six years. I have tutored high school and college students in subjects including chemistry, physics, biology, and mathematics (from pre algebra to differential equations). I have also worked at Stony Brook University as a college biology lecturer. I like to use a hands on approach to tutoring rather than just lecturing, although I find it best to adapt my methods to the learning style of each individual student.I love to dance, especially ballet. I also love to learn new languages. Currently, I am continuing my studies of Spanish, and learning American Sign Language. I would like to become fluent in French and Mandarin Chinese in the future.I absolutely love teaching and would love to help out anyway I can!

Nothing is more gratifying for me than helping others achieve knowledge and happiness. That???s why I???m here at Varsity Tutors, so I can help others reach academic excellence, and beyond. Before I became a tutor, I was a Lead Teaching Assistant for human anatomy and physiology at my university for two years, became a Division I track and field All-American honorable mention and Academic All-American, did synthetic organic chemistry research, and graduated summa cum laude. Now that I???ve graduated, I???m applying and interviewing for medical school, volunteering in the rural, underserved community as an EMT on an ambulance, and helping young children with special needs in an impoverished city.A lot of people ask me why I chose medicine. One reason why I???m pursuing medicine is because I???m passionate about teaching others, and that???s why I???m here, because I truly enjoy it. I enjoy helping others in MCAT prep, biochemistry, and much more. I hope to not just be a tutor, but a helpful guide and mentor in your academic endeavors.

I first began to experience what it was like to teach students while I was studying at Oregon State University. I was a teaching intern for Human Anatomy & Physiology for 2 years, and found it extremely gratifying and rewarding to be able to work closely with students and help them understand such a complex subject. I received my Bachelors of Science in BioHealth Sciences and a Minor in Chemistry in 2016, and recently applied to medical school. I am passionate and comfortable with any type of science, specifically biology, chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology. I have experience with all types of teaching styles that can appeal to any type of learner, and am comfortable working with students one on one or in groups. Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exercising, and being outside, whether it be on a beach or on the mountains!

I believe that learning should be engaging and relevant. One of my purposes as a tutor is to demonstrate to students the wealth of information that still awaits them and to share my excitement about these subjects in the hope that they will join me in that emotion. I hope to show them that both math and science are applicable and beneficial to their everyday lives, regardless of where their interests may eventually lead them.I also want to give my students methods for surviving and thriving in today's increasingly fast- paced and technologically advanced world. To do this, they need the critical thinking and analytical skills to discriminate and interpret the information with which they are bombarded everyday from a variety of sources. I want to show them that science is not a static body of knowledge to be memorized, but a growing and changing way of understanding our selves and our world. I try approach concepts by modeling how scientists collect data about a subject and then use it to develop theories that can explain their observations. I always emphasize that scientists continue to further develop and modify these theories as new data is discovered. I also want my students to understand that I do not have all of the answers for them and they will need to find some of them on their own. They need to be willing and capable enough to do this. When working with math, I attempt to connect concepts to "real world" uses and ideas. I hope to show my students that math is not a torture technique, but a tool that can be used to describe and test ideas as well as to overcome obstacles to success.Lastly, I believe that math and science are not done in isolation from other topics. Reading, writing and communication are important parts of instruction as well. Whether it is reading about a concept for information, learning or pleasure or it is writing and speaking about the ideas that a student has developed in working out a problem, all of these activities are integral parts of math and science work. However, my ultimate goal as a tutor is to have a positive influence on some part of each of my students' lives that helps them toward becoming capable and independent adults. The primary objective of teaching young people is to have them eventually be able to make competent and confident decisions for themselves and for others who may depend upon them as adults.

I love to learn! My own enthusiasm and curiosity are some of my greatest teaching assets as I've found the feelings are contagious within my students. My experience working with diverse groups of students and learners, including special education students, makes me uniquely attuned to each students individual needs. I also believe that learning at its core is a fun and exciting process. I would love to bring all of my skills to you or your family!

I enjoy learning, and helping others learn. I am a results driven tutor who has been helping students in Math and Science since 2009. All the students I have helped have improved by at least a full letter grade. I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Physics and a specialization in Robotics and I passed the FE exam in September of 2018. I understand that not all students are able to learn the same way and I try to adapt my teaching methods to better suit the student. I have tutoring experience in math from Pre-Algebra through Calculus 2, high school and college Physics, and engineering sciences associated with a Mechanical Engineering degree (i.e. Solid Mechanics, Statics, Dynamics, Machine Design, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, etc.). I am bilingual, able to speak English and Spanish.
