Building Discipline, One Day at a Time by Zoie - February 2026 Scholarship Essay

From the classroom to personal goals, I have learned that success is built through small, consistent habits and discipline. One routine that has already made a meaningful difference in my academic and personal growth is my commitment to the 75 Hard challenge, which I am currently on day 13. Even in the early stages, this program has taught me the importance of setting goals, staying accountable, and pushing through challenges, lessons that extend far beyond physical activity.

Each day, I commit to specific, measurable tasks, including completing two workouts, reading, following a structured nutrition plan, and tracking my progress in a journal. By setting these clear expectations, I can focus my energy and monitor my progress daily. These tasks are achievable because I carefully plan them alongside schoolwork, allowing me to balance academics and personal growth effectively. They are relevant to my long-term goals, helping me build the discipline, focus, and resilience that will support my future in chemistry, dental school, and pediatric dentistry. Because the challenge requires daily adherence, it is time-bound, motivating me to stay consistent even when I feel tired or busy.

Even after just two weeks, I’ve noticed improvements in my time management, focus, and self-motivation. Completing each day’s tasks, no matter how small, reinforces the value of persistence and accountability. The routine has already helped me develop stronger mental endurance, a clearer sense of priorities, and a more organized approach to balancing multiple responsibilities.

While I am still at the beginning of this challenge, the habits I am building through 75 Hard are already influencing my approach to school, personal development, and long-term goals. By committing to this structured routine, I am learning that even small, consistent actions can create meaningful change—and that mindset will continue to guide me through college, dental school, and beyond.
