The Future of Education by Yanieta - September 2025 Scholarship Essay

In the next ten years, I hope to see an education system that promotes individuality, challenges the status quo, and respects each person’s unique path to excellence. Every student should have access to high-quality facilities, opportunities, and resources. They should be free to pursue what excites them—whether that means studying abroad, learning a trade, or joining unique extracurricular activities.
As a student who has benefited from caring teachers, I know firsthand that students deserve compassionate and dedicated educators who meet them where they are and help them grow from there. Education should not be measured solely by grades and test scores, but also by how each individual learns best. Financial literacy and mental health awareness should be woven into the curriculum as part of a holistic approach. Students should also be equipped with essential life skills, healthy habits, and communication tools to prepare them for both professional and personal success.
Teachers, in turn, must be valued and supported. They should receive fair compensation and the financial resources necessary to keep classrooms equipped for meaningful learning. When teachers feel respected and empowered, they can better nurture and inspire their students.
If the next decade brings us closer to this vision—a learning environment that supports teachers, values students, and shares resources equitably—then children will grow into successful citizens who strengthen their communities for generations to come.
