My Aspirations and Motivations to Achieve Them. by Wesley - August 2025 Scholarship Essay

My aspirations for the upcoming school year are centered on developing personal and academic improvement. I would like to continue getting high grades in all of my courses, but more importantly, I would like to enhance my knowledge of the coursework rather than merely memorizing the material for a test. I am also going to challenge myself in areas where I'm weak, such as reding. I know that conquering those weaknesses will make me stronger and more confident. I'd also like to do more things beyond the classroom, whether it be joining clubs I've never been in before, becoming a leader, or volunteering more in the community. Those are the experiences that will teach me such things as teamwork, problem-solving, and communication-skills that are every bit as valuable as book knowledge.
Another goal I have is to develop better organizational skills and time management. I do have a part time job but I want to be ahead on assignments, study for exams well in advance, and create a schedule in which I can balance schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and personal free time. I recognize that building these habits now will mean that any obstacle in the future, whether in college or in a future career, will be simpler to handle.
What motivates me the most is my vision for myself in the coming years. In order for me to earn a degree in sports management, I know that what I do this year will open doors for me to more opportunities in the future to achieve that goal. I am also motivated by the people who support me, including my family, teachers, and friends. They are always reminding me that I can achieve any goal and become anyone I want to be as long as I work hard and believe in myself. That belief gives me the desire to keep working hard even when things get tough.
Another concept that motivates me is improvement. There's a certain sense of satisfaction that comes from mastering a tough topic, bringing up a grade, or leading a successful project. Each accomplishment-no matter how small-is proof that effort actually does yield rewards.
My aspirations for the coming school year, therefore, aren't just academic but also personal. I want to be a more disciplined, self-confident, and balanced person. By staying focused, motivated, and open to new experiences, I am confident that I can turn this school year into one of the best yet. I see it as an opportunity to set the stage for the person I want to become-and that is what drives me to do my best each and every day.
