Aspirations on foundation by victoria - August 2025 Scholarship Essay
The word foundation is a term referenced for its meaning of stability in both colloquial conversations as well as formal conversations. Adding value to the workplace due to years of concentrated training is not the only trait I would like to gain from attending college. My hope is that my continued pursuit of higher education allows me to develop into a mature adult. Although I am a later in life college student, I have found that after my first year of completing college that I was more humbled then educated. My first humbling came from expecting my community college course to be easy. My second came from honoring the commitment I made to showing up at 8am for 3 months. The final humbling I have received was realizing my interest in my major might not be enough to attain a degree for it. My humbling aside, I have not lost interest in my pursuit of higher education. In my pursuits of achieving what I thought would bring my life to a totality of outliers that lead to a meaningful life. I have found that I have the aspirations for commitment, achievement and success are now my focus. Each are terms that become relative to any situation; however, their core meaning remains the same. My aspirations for the upcoming school year, is to learn to embody the principles that are often used across the board in both colloquial settings and formal settings that mean commitment, achievement and success. I am now more excited for the smaller goals I manage to accomplish within a semester. Which ultimately lead me closer to mastering a major. I first started college with the intent to get a degree that would give me more money per year. I now want to graduate to see where my efforts place me in the life that I have planned for myself. A version of myself that can compartmentalize smaller task over consecutive number of days to achieve a desired result. A person who can enter any new situation approach it with humility and the education to solve any problem. As a student I am asked questions regarding my goals, interest and to date accomplishments. The worse part about answering these questions are the self-discussed reminders of my efforts as a student thus far. Which depending on the specifics of the question, are reminders of how much or little I have accomplished as a student.
