The Last Lap by Sha'ziah - August 2025 Scholarship Essay

As I head into my senior year of high school, my biggest aspiration this year is to take on ever opportunity head first and to make the most of every single one, not only academically but personally. I want to finish as strong as I can, maintaining high grades and pushing myself in all my courses. I also plan to put myself out there and take on more leadership roles and join clubs I have been interested in to leave one last positive impact on my school community.

One of my biggest goals this upcoming school year is to get accepted into NCCU, I truly feel like it is a place I can grow, explore my interests, and begin shaping my future. To do that, I am motivated to give my best effort in everything I do, stay focused, and manage my time well.

What motivates me to achieve these goals is becoming the best version of myself and I want my senior year to reflect all of my effort. Over the years I've had a big support system including my family, friends, teachers, and pastor, they have helped me and supported me through some of the most difficult times and I want to make them proud as well as myself. This year feels the bridge between the young teen I've been for the past 3 years and the young intelligent women I'm becoming, and I will cross this bridge with confidence and resilience.
