Success Isn’t Crammed Overnight by Ruth - September 2026 Scholarship Essay

The study strategy that has had the greatest impact on my academic success is learning to study consistently instead of waiting until the last minute. I used to think that spending hours studying the night before a test was enough, but I quickly realized that cramming information did not help me truly understand or remember it. The biggest change in my academic success came when I started breaking my studying into smaller sessions and reviewing information over time.

Staying organized has also played an important role. By keeping track of assignments, deadlines, and upcoming tests, I can plan ahead instead of feeling overwhelmed. I set aside time to review my notes, complete assignments, and practice difficult material. When something is challenging, I try not to avoid it. Instead, I spend extra time practicing or ask for help until I understand it.

This method has made a major difference because it reduces stress and gives me more confidence. Instead of walking into a test hoping I remember everything, I feel prepared because I have reviewed the material multiple times. Studying consistently also helps me remember information longer, rather than forgetting everything immediately after an exam.

Overall, the greatest lesson I have learned is that academic success does not happen overnight. It is built through consistency, preparation, and effort. This study strategy has helped me become a better student and has taught me skills that I can continue using throughout college and my future career.
