Crocheting; Not A Simple Task by Reese - April 2026 Scholarship Essay
There are many skills I hope to develop in the future. Some are physical, academic, or mental. But out of all the skills that I want to make progress in, crocheting is the one. Getting better at skills in a lab or running faster are good ones, but crocheting is something special to me. Improving some skills will make it easier to get a job or are better to brag about. Crocheting is something just for me. Every time I go on social media, I see all of the things that other people post, and it inspires me so much. Seeing different pillows or sweaters makes me so ready to improve my skills. I just started last year, and I have not finished my first project, a scarf, yet. I am halfway through the scarf, and the first rows do not look the best. Yet, I am still inspired to get better. Each row I do gets a little better. As I see what other people make, I know all of the other things that I want to make, like bags and pillows. I also think that making handmade gifts for others means more. A handmade scarf or sweater means that someone thought about you and put the effort in.
