Being Constant during Chaos: Adaptability by Prameen - July 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I could offer one piece of advice to my past self, it would be to lean into your adapting skills as it is your greatest strength. Life will not always go on plan and the sooner you stop resisting that truth, the freer and more resilient you will become. Change is not something to brace against; it’s something to move with. The sooner you realize that stability doesn’t come from controlling your environment, but from trusting your ability to adapt, the more confidently you’ll face the unknown.

There will be times when everything feels new; as you have known like moving to a whole new country with a new culture, new people, and new expectations. You would be tempted to stay in your comfort zone and cling on something familiar or delay decisions until everything feels stable and safe. Well, you know what, don't! You have a quiet but powerful ability to observe, adjust, and grow. You don’t need to have all the answers when you arrive somewhere new; what matters is that you’re willing to listen, learn, and evolve. This skill has been you superpower all along.

So don't fear of the pit. Do not overthink every choice or get stuck wondering whether you’re ready. You are, you were, and you always will be. Every unfamiliar space will eventually feel like home; not because the world changes but because you do. And you always will. You might be asking... why am I telling you this. Well, let me tell you the truth. The world will change from your perspective and if you do not change your mind, you will stay stuck in your comfort zone; being lazy and inefficient. Do you want that to happen? NO! You better step up. I know you will. Lock in and I wish you the best!
