Perseverance Within Academics by Peyton - July 2026 Scholarship Essay
During my senior year of high school I opted to take a college level psychology class. The class was very interesting to me, but I found it hard to keep up. Since this was a college class, the standards and expectations were way higher than my high school classes. The first couple of weeks were challenging as I fought to find my footing in the class. There were a couple of bad grades at first, which led to stress, but I overcame this. I started working harder in the class and writing even more than what the requirements requested. I started wanting to participate more in the class so I would exceed the expectations.
This class helped me understand how much work I need to put in for a college class. It taught me how to elevate my writing skills and how to understand harder topics. It actually prepared me for what I might face while fully enrolled in college. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to engage in college classes while still in high school. This experience has furthered my education and skills as a student.
In conclusion, challenges are hard to get through, but it is important to go through them. Without challenges there is no way to better yourself. Challenges are essential for finding yourself and finding new skills.
