Cobble by Cobble, or, Building My Educational Awareness as a Student by Omir - February 2026 Scholarship Essay

Finding a habit or even adding to my routine has developed over time as a teenage student. For me, actively looking toward the future has always facilitated thought and encouraged me to branch out. Being an ambivert, recognizing the importance of social interaction and valuing alone time, has made me far more confident in myself than in previous years. It is due to this that I'm always on the lookout for opportunities to grow as a person. In this, I can say that always looking for productivity and taking every chance to learn about myself, including the world, are habits and parts of my routine that I'm proud of. During the beginning of high school, I wanted to build a foundation, but didn't know where exactly to start, or end for that matter. Here I am today, planning out the outcome before it's even happened as I'm going forward and only forward. Of course, growth is only possible through experience, and I know I've had good and plenty, but not enough.

Communication is something that I've been developing ever since I've started my academic career. Knowing how to work with different parties, telling others what I'm thinking, and listening to their thoughts has stayed in my mind as a priority. Needless to say, I haven't always been the best public speaker, but presentations during my freshman year was the push that I very much needed. All it took was the simple reward of earning a piece of candy. Presenting the history of the Palais Garnier during my French class had me nervous at first, all eyes of the students on me, but thereon I worked toward improving my speaking skills. I always put my best effort into presentation design and research, so learning the importance of speech inspired me to practice speaking up. From an interim school to my current one, my sophomore year had part of the foundation built.

It was a year of getting used to things, but I still remained confident about my academic success. I was an aspiring leader but did not know where or what to lead. Setting an example or even standing out was a dream that seemed so distant. However, the test came at the beginning of June as the upcoming elections for Student Government and Class Officers arose. I thought of myself as a man of the people, so I decided to take a chance at running for president of the Class of 2027. Unfortunately, I was the clear underdog as shown by my amateur campaign. Although I did not win, those close to me were impressed that I even tried a feat such as that. Knowing that I could win next time, I continue to plan my next run for Student Government office with better strategies. Learning the importance of a blueprint allowed me to almost complete the foundation, but there was still room for improvement.

I went into my junior year more confident than ever, knowing it would be better than my freshman and sophomore years. So far, it's been a school year of progress, including playing sports, coming out of my shell, and taking more challenging classes. Along with these, joining more clubs not only branched out my fields of interest and allowed me to meet new people, but also gave me a newfound social ambition. Meeting new people is nice, and I wanted to share my interests with others, particularly my knowledge of history. This is why I went on to start the History Club at my school. I would be able to build my own community and meet like-minded people in education. It took around a month to set everything up through advertising, finding sponsors and members, getting the word out, and talking to administration, but all went well after that. Trying something new and actively helping the school was determinative of my efficiency. The first meeting was a success, and there I finally completed the foundation.

In all these experiences, I found out what was being built and how I could keep going from there. I hadn't known the habits that made me who I was, but remembering all that I've done made me learn them. I'd always be productive by doing the best academically, innovating, and staying curious. Improving my communication and listening skills, experimenting and planning new strategies, and becoming more social increased my ambition. Doing the presentation in my freshman year set a small stone to start with for my sophomore and junior years. Knowing I've completed the foundation, it can only go up from here.

My routine has defined what my past looked like and what to expect for the future. I'm always making sure to continue my work ethic so it can keep growing. Building my Tower of Babel isn't easy and will take some time, but I'm willing to brave any challenge to complete my goals. I've gone from a quiet student to an ambitious scholar in the matter of three years, all thanks to the small steps I took. My habits have developed into my character which I'm still exploring to this day. As an upcoming senior and college student, I can only hope for the best future. Only aiming for the highest will complete my goals, and I'm ever-determined to grow my knowledge. A cobble and my dreams is all I need to work with.
