My Two Inspirations in Life by Nehemiah - August 2025 Scholarship Essay
Growing up two very influential people passed away my great grandfather and my grandmother. They were family and it was a struggle bearing the pain of them being gone. Looking back we all had similar personalities and had careers in the business field. When I lost them I really didn’t know what to do at a young age. I was overcome with grief but they are my inspiration to continue on to higher education for the future.
Furthermore, it was really hard for me to express my feelings. But after a while I recognized that they’re looking down on me and I have to make them proud. All the little things my grandma and great grandfather taught me will be put in effect. So them passing turned into determination and fuel to make them proud. I’ve been trying to better myself by focusing on school, basketball, and just being healthy.
Additionally, as I went through my years of school I realized I want to pursue the business sector. So I took business oriented camps such as Point Park University Accelerated Career Awareness Program, Sport Business Camp and Spark Entrepreneurship Camp. As well as taking several dual enrollment courses with universities in my area on business topics. I realized business isn’t about numbers it’s also about your connections and networking. Just like my loved ones they knew how to touch the lives of others in a meaningful way by giving and displaying kindness.
Finally, my personal encounters set me up for college and after. I know how to be mentally positive when going through hardships. And turn agony into advancement to keep on moving forward, which is an important mindset to have in any career especially business.
In conclusion, losing my great grandfather and my grandmother early in my life has been the hardest thing I’ve gone through. Therefore, the influence they left me won’t leave, I will take it with me forever of being kind and giving to others. That’s what will lead me through college, my career, and just life in general.
