How praying has formed me. by Myah - February 2026 Scholarship Essay

One small habit that has made a big difference in my academic and personal success is praying daily. While it may seem simple, this routine has helped shape how I approach challenges, manage stress, and stay grounded in both my school life and personal growth.

Daily prayer gives me a moment of quiet in an otherwise busy and demanding schedule. Between school, sports, work, and other responsibilities, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed or rushed. Taking time each day to pray allows me to slow down and reset my mindset. It helps me reflect on my goals, express gratitude, and ask for guidance when I am feeling unsure or stressed. Starting or ending my day with prayer reminds me that I am not facing challenges alone, which gives me a sense of peace and confidence.

Academically, this habit has helped me stay focused and motivated. When I feel pressure from assignments, exams, or expectations, prayer helps calm my nerves and refocus my thoughts. Instead of panicking or doubting myself, I am able to approach my work with a clearer and more positive attitude. It also encourages me to put forth my best effort while trusting that outcomes will work out as they are meant to. This balance has helped me manage stress more effectively and stay consistent in my studies.

On a personal level, praying daily has strengthened my character and relationships. It encourages patience, humility, and gratitude, which influence how I treat others and respond to difficult situations. Prayer helps me reflect on my actions and reminds me to be kind, hardworking, and resilient. It has also helped me develop discipline, as committing to this daily routine requires consistency and intention.

Although prayer is a small habit, its impact on my life has been significant. It provides me with clarity, comfort, and strength, especially during challenging times. This routine has helped me grow not only as a student, but as a person, and it continues to guide me as I work toward my goals.
