My name is Michaela Newsome, and I am an independent African American college student pursuing a degree in Finance. As a first-generation college student, the journey I'm taking requires breaking barriers and creating a standard for the generations that follow. I have faced many personal challenges, including an estranged relationship with both of my parents, which has only strengthened my determination to succeed.

Despite the emotional and financial hardships I have encountered, I have remained focused and driven. I work hard every day to maintain my academic performance and to strengthen my efforts. Being independent has taught me resilience, time management, and the importance of self-motivation. I understand that nothing worthwhile comes easy, and I am fully committed to putting in the effort necessary to create a successful future for myself.

I chose Finance because I am passionate about financial literacy and economic empowerment. I want to be a part of a system that helps others understand how to build wealth, manage money wisely, and create financial stability in their lives, especially within underserved communities like my own. My ultimate goal is to use my knowledge and skills to inspire and educate others, making an impact far beyond my own success.

I am goal-oriented, a natural leader, and someone who leads by example. I do not shy away from responsibility, and I embrace opportunities to grow. There is so much more to who I am. My perseverance, my integrity, and my vision for the future are just a few of the qualities that define Michaela. With the right support and resources, I am confident that I can achieve greatness and make meaningful contributions in the field of finance and beyond.
