WAIT by MCKENZEE - July 2025 Scholarship Essay
The question that is presented is, if I could give my past self a piece of advice, what would that be and why. The biggest piece of advice that I could give my past self would simply be the word wait. Now, let me dig deep into that. Waiting could mean a lot of things to many different people however, what it means to me now and what it could have meant for my past self is that I need to wait on things. Do not rush, do not rush to start school, do not rush to have the boyfriend in high school, and ultimately wait to get married. All my life I was in a hurry to match everyone's pace that I ended up settling for a lot of things in my life, including my husband. Along the way I lost bits and pieces of myself. Had I waited and not wanted to be like everyone else I would have mad some different choices. I would have waited to go to school until I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I would have explored the dating world more and not settled for the first person who should me love. So, in the end wait is the advice I would have given my past self.
