I think I would tell myself to stop being so dramatic. Changes are hard, moving countries and schools and languages and friends, it’s tough. The things is: it isn’t though only for you Ms. Little 10-year-old, but for mom and dad, too. And your very annoying, very old brother. There are a lot of things happening and they also had to face all of those challenges, just like you. Yes, life is hard and maybe this many changes in that little time is unfair, and you are allowed to cry and to be sad, you are allowed to be mad and think life is not fair. What you are not allowed to do is to hate. There is a life to be lived and a world to conquer and you aren’t gonna get to do either of those until you stop pitying all the things you lost; look at the grass, and the trees, and the flowers and the snow, look at the plants and listen to the music, and look at the little birds and squirrels, you had never seen squirrels before. And look at that stunning sunset and the books, so so so many books. Look at it, and then look at me, and then keep looking.
