Creating a Leader by Madison - January 2026 Scholarship Essay

Many people can say they are a natural-born leader. I am a leader, but it has not come naturally. Academics have shaped me into the leader I am today. By the time I got to high school I was very organized, hard-working, and detail oriented. I decided to take what I had learned from achieving good grades and apply it into various new areas of my life. I raised the standard at which I hold myself to not only in academics, but also my community involvement and athletics. I joined Student Government, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, KEY Club, and became a Student Ambassador. These groups have allowed me to grow in unique ways. I have learned to work well with others, identify weaknesses in myself and fix them, create events to get my community more engaged, and most importantly I have learned to better serve others.
It would be easy to join these groups and say I was a part of them, but instead, I have made it my goal to be the hardest working individual. Though signing up for all of these may seem draining, I committed to giving 100% of my energy and effort to lead everyone around me. This is seen through organizing service projects with the National Honor Society, creating new events in Student Government to foster a supportive community, and signing up at open houses and welcome events as a Student Ambassador. What these organizations have taught me goes far beyond being in them, it has instilled in me hard work and dedication to better serving my community and peers. I will continue on this path as I go to receive my degree at Arizona Christian University.
