My Aspirations by Luke - August 2025 Scholarship Essay

My aspirations to become a Aerospace engineer began in kindergarten at Collins Hill Christian
School when my mother enrolled me in an after-school robotics club. This initial exposure
sparked my interest in engineering and robotics. By 5th grade, I eagerly joined a new morning
robotics club, further nurturing my passion and skills through teamwork and collaboration on
various projects. At 14, my mother encouraged me to attend a week-long Engineering Camp at
the University of Georgia (UGA). Initially skeptical about being away from home, I ultimately
decided to participate. I enrolled in the Beginners Engineering program in 2022 and returned for
the Advanced program in 2023. These experiences deepened my understanding of engineering
concepts and strengthened my desire to pursue this career. In 9th grade at Peachtree Ridge
High School, I joined the engineering track known as SPIRE (STEM Program for Innovation
Rigor and Excellence). This project-based course integrates chemistry, language arts, and
engineering, allowing me to collaborate with peers and demonstrate my understanding through
diverse formats. I have completed both 9th and 10th grade SPIRE, with 11th and 12th grades
ahead of me. Graduating from Peachtree Ridge in 2026, I look forward to continuing my journey
in engineering. The foundations I’ve developed in SPIRE are preparing me well for a career in
Aerospace engineering, and I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead
