Building Bridges, Not Walls. by Lily - December 2025 Scholarship Essay
If I were running for student body president, the number one way I would hope to impact my school would be through unity. I would fight for and promote unity among students because I feel there are so many things that divide us in this world. With cliques, "mean girl" personas, there is often tension in classrooms and hallways because of differences students may have and the judgments from other students.
I would do this by starting Unity Campaigns, where we hold organized events that celebrate diversity, culture, and shared values, strengthening school identity and belonging. Furthermore, I would implement Homework Free Nights for students, so they can recharge and rest up for the rest of the week, creating a more calm and productive week within the classrooms, which will hopefully lead to less work for the teachers.
Lastly, with the idea of unity, I would want all of the students to able to express their questions, comments, and concerns in a safe space where they know they are being seen and heard. With that, I would start a Student Voice Platform. I would establish a monthly forum or digital platform where students can share concerns and ideas directly with leadership, ensuring everyone feels heard.
