A School Where Everyone Belongs by Lauren - December 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I were running for student body president, the number one way I would hope to positively impact my school is by creating a culture where every student feels seen, supported, and connected. I've learned through FCCLA, community service, and getting out of my comfort zone that school isn't just a place to learn. It is a place where students are shaped for their future. The way we treat each other matters just as much as what we learn in class.
I want to empower students to speak up, try new things, and believe they belong. I've seen firsthand how powerful encouragement can be. When students feel supported, they grow into leaders for the future. I want to help create that environment everyday, not just during special events or spirit weeks.
One of the best ways I would do this is by improving communication and connection between students and the organizations that serve them. So many students have amazing ideas but feel like no one will listen. I would like to open that door. Whether it's through student led events, monthly highlights, or just being a listening ear. I want to make it easier for students to share their voice and make a real change. Leadership shouldn't be seen as something on a stage, it should be seen standing in the middle of the hallway with everyone else.
I also believe in service and giving back. I've seen how even small actions can change someone's day. As student body president, I would push for more service projects that are meaningful, student driven, and connected to real needs in our community. Helping others brings people together, and it reminds us of the kind of school we want to be.
Most of all, I would hope people would remember that I cared. I cared about them, their ideas, their experiences, and their future. If I can help even one student feel more confident, more valued, and more connected, then I made the impact I set out to make. That is the kind of leadership I believe in, and the kind of leader I want to be for others.
