This upcoming school year, my biggest aspiration is to stay consistent, academically, personally, and emotionally. As a nursing student, I know things are about to get more intense with clinicals, lectures, and long nights of studying, but I’m determined to stay focused and keep showing up for myself. I want to continue improving my study habits, pass all my classes with strong grades, and grow more confident in my skills so I can be the best nurse possible one day.
Another goal I have is to stay involved in my campus community, especially with organizations like the Student Nurses Association and Black Student Alliance. Being a part of those groups reminds me that I’m not doing this alone. I also want to keep uplifting others around me, whether it’s by encouraging my classmates, sharing helpful resources, or just being a positive presence when things get tough.
What motivates me most is where I come from and who I’m doing this for. I’m a first-generation college student, and that means everything to me. I want to make my family proud and show others who grew up like me that we can do hard things. I also think about the future patients I’ll care for. They deserve someone who’s prepared, passionate, and knowledgeable. That keeps me going even on the days I feel like giving up. At the end of this year, I want to look back and say: I stayed committed, I kept growing, and I gave it my all.
