Turning Challenges Into Success by Kyley - September 2026 Scholarship Essay

The study strategy that has had the greatest impact on my academic success is reviewing information and completing my work as soon as possible after class. I have learned that the longer I wait, the easier it is for me to forget important information or become overwhelmed by what I need to complete. By reviewing my notes and starting my assignments while the material is still fresh in my mind, I give myself a better opportunity to understand the material and succeed.

This strategy is especially meaningful to me because I have a learning disability. Instead of allowing my learning disability to determine what I can accomplish, I have learned to work with it by being proactive and organized. Completing my work early gives me time to review, ask questions, and make improvements when necessary. It also gives me confidence because I know that I am doing everything I can to put myself in a position to succeed.

Most importantly, this strategy has taught me that academic success is not always about how quickly you learn something. Sometimes it is about knowing what works best for you and being willing to put in the extra effort. Reviewing my work, staying ahead of assignments, and remaining consistent have helped me become a more responsible and determined student. I know that my learning disability is part of my journey, but it does not define my potential. My willingness to work hard, plan ahead, and never give up is what continues to move me toward my academic goals.
