Running for student body president by Kennady - December 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I was running for student body president the first thing I would do to help make a good impact on the school would be to find a way to add more fun activities within the school. I do not mean force the students to talk with each other, I want to have more fun activities that make them want to interact with each other. I am not the most social person so I understand the pressure of being forced to talk to people. I also understand the feeling when I am not being forced to interact with people.

For starters, I don´t mean clubs. I want full school participation, something that doesn't only take place after school. Not everyone is able to participate in clubs due to jobs, transportation, and a bunch of other reasons. I understand that there is a strict schedule that the schools have to stay on but some breaks for the students every now and then would help them. Especially high school students who don't get a fun break from doing work often so I feel like having something like a field day would be fun.

Additionally, high school students tend to get burned out fast due to school and having to go to work. Not all of the students have jobs but they still probably have other responsibilities at home. I just feel like having a small break could be beneficial to the students. It doesn't even have to be a full day but having a field day maybe closer to the end of the day would be nice. It doesn´t need to be big or fancy but having some games and small snacks would be enough.

Lastly, I know it would take time to plan it out and figure out when it would best suit the schedule for it to be planned. It would also take money and getting money is not always the easiest thing to do. I think having a couple of fundraisers would be enough to get the money that would be needed. I understand that this would not be the easiest thing to plan, however, I still feel like it would be a good break for high schoolers.

In conclusion, if I was running for student body president I would try to get more fun activities within the school. It would benefit everyone to have a small fun break every now and then. It would also get the students involved with each other and allow for them to talk and enjoy their time together. Rather than having the student stressing over school work and then having to go home to work or more responsibilities it would give them a small break.
