Procrastination is a huge issue that thousands of students across the world experience. As a high school senior, procrastination seems to be the only thing to look forward to when the impending doom of college and adulthood keeps tapping on your shoulder, every day, all the time. Despite our independent worries for the future, school work is a constant in every student’s life and can only be ignored for so long. So, here’s my unbeatable solution to end the reign of procrastination and ultimately raise the letter of your grades!

Step 1: Stop planning everything; even if you’re the type A, super organized individual, stop doing it. Life isn’t always as structured as we’d all like it to be, so start working in tandem with it. Create notecards while on the bus. Save some math problems for your lunch period. Start thinking about the science behind the meals you cook for yourself. Soon enough, when you incorporate learning into every step of your routine, education seems fun.

Step 2: Take lessons out of context. That college chemistry class? Apply it to your at-home life. Maybe it’ll haunt you while you’re walking through the cleaning supplies section at your supermarket. Let it! The point of learning something is not to get perfect 100s on your tests. When you take your education home with you, even the most mundane things can begin to have meaning attached with them.

Step 3 [The Last One]: Have fun! School is what you make of it. No matter how harsh of a grader the teacher is, you are the one who decides whether or not you’ll have fun learning the material. From nature walks to the wonders of the night sky, the studying you do outside of class will make a significant difference in how much you appreciate and understand the world.

When you inevitably realize that learning is a hobby, assignments and homework become a lot easier to complete. No matter what, though, the end result shouldn’t be your grades. Rather, it should be the ideas you’ve learned while on your educational journey. However, if you should follow my method, your increased grades will simply be a byproduct.
