Elect the Best, I Will Handle the Rest by Jaeviyon - December 2025 Scholarship Essay

I, Jaeviyon Reynolds, would make a great student body president. If I were running, the number one way I would hope to positively impact my school is by strengthening student voice and making sure every student feels heard and valued. Very often, students have ideas, concerns, or hopes for their school experience but feel unsure of where to take them or whether anyone will care enough to listen. My goal would be to create a culture where students are not only encouraged to speak up but empowered to help shape real solutions.

I would start by creating more open communication channels between the student body and leadership. For example I would like to implement, anonymous suggestion platforms and collaboration meetings with administration. These spaces would allow students from all backgrounds to express what is working, what isn’t working, and what changes they would like to see. I believe meaningful progress can only happen when the people affected by decisions are included in making them.

Beyond gathering input, I would work to turn student ideas into action. Whether improving school spirit, addressing mental health needs, expanding extracurricular opportunities, or advocating for a safer and more inclusive environment, I would ensure that students play a central role in designing and leading initiatives. By involving students directly in solutions, we build ownership, confidence, and a stronger community.

Ultimately, my goal would be to create a school where leadership is not just a position, but a partnership. I would like to create an environment where students feel connected, supported, and capable of influencing their own educational experience. If elected, I would dedicate myself to making student voice the driving force behind positive changes in our school. I am a varsity athlete and an advocate for mental health, and I believe change can begin with me.
