The Value of Feedback by Jada - August 2026 Scholarship Essay

One time I learned from feedback was during my first year of college. I worked hard on my assignments, but I realized that doing my best did not always mean my work was perfect. My professors gave me feedback on my papers and told me where I could improve. They pointed out places where I needed to explain my ideas better, fix small mistakes, and organize my writing more clearly.

At first, I felt disappointed because I thought I had done a good job. After taking time to read the feedback, I realized my professors wanted to help me become a better student. Instead of getting upset, I used their comments to improve my future assignments. I started proofreading my work, asking questions when I needed help, and taking more time before turning in my assignments.

The feedback helped me grow as a student and as a person. It taught me that learning is not about being perfect. It is about being willing to improve and learn from mistakes. Now, I see feedback as something positive instead of something to be afraid of.

This experience changed the way I learn. I know there is always room to grow, and I will continue to use feedback to become a stronger student and prepare for my future career.
