The study method that has had the greatest impact on my academic success is the recall method. Instead of just reading my notes over and over, I test myself on what I remember. This has helped me understand that studying is not just about writing and reading notes; I actually have to be able to store the information.

When I use the recall method, I study a topic first and then put my notes away. After that, I try to write down or say everything I remember about the topic. If I forget something or get an answer wrong, then that's what I go back and focus on a little more. Then I would test myself again until everything, or the majority of the information, is remembered.

The recall method me a lot in my science class because there is a lot of information you have to remember. I can break down the material into smaller sections and quiz myself on each one. Sometimes I practice questions or explain a topic out loud like I am teaching someone else, like my mother. If I can explain it without looking at my notes, I know I understand it.

Another reason this method is more beneficial to me is that I have other things to do, like school, work, and practice; I don't always have hours to study. This method helps me focus on the information I actually need to pay attention to.

Overall, the recall method has made studying a lot easier for me and helped me prepare for tests; I'm not the best test taker, so this really helps me. It taught me that knowing something means being able to remember and explain it without having the right answer in front of me. Because of this, recall is now one of the main ways I like to study.
