Tech In Class by Ignacio - November 2025 Scholarship Essay

In today's society technology basically runs our world. It has had an impact on everything we do, from everyday daily activities to special occasions. As we get older technology is only going to evolve and be more prevalent than it is now. But the effect technology has had in the class is something we could have foreseen for the better and the worse. The way technology affects the classroom differs from grade level from elementary school all the way to high school.
Of course as technology evolves the way we teach is going to evolve with it. Teachers are going to have to deal with less paper work and make more assignments online. This gives kids a greater opportunity to learn in easier ways and keep them engage. Technology doesn't have that much of a impact in maybe elementary schools but it is way more prevalent in high school. In high schools teens are able to explore so much more of what they are interested in and maybe a future job. It makes it easier for the teens to decided maybe a future interest and a much funnier experience in high school.
Along with making the class better, it can also make the class worser. Especially in high schools the privilege of having technology like a phones makes the student feel like they have everything they need and don't need to listen in class. Right now high schools are having to ban phones in school just to make kids to pay attention more often. Technology is running our lives and it is running the teens lives so much they start not caring about school at all. They think they don't need school if they have their phone. Even if students don't have their phone or just aren't on their phone they have their Mac Books and Air Pods to keep them distracted from school. A Mac Book is basically a big phone and then if a student has their Air Pods on at full blast they won't even hear the teachers give instructions. So as much as technology improves our classroom experience, it always has some drawbacks that will hurt. We just have to ask is it worth the drawbacks of having this new tech.
