The Change Starts Today by Guadalupe - September 2025 Scholarship Essay

It feels like last week when we were leaving our 5th grade graduation, being scared of being a big kid now but as the years pass we realize that time flies and we are on our own to do what is best for us. Now all we think about is having the best cars, the best clothes, the newest phones, we wish to have the best but are stuck. As the rate for drop outs has been increasing for teenagers who think working from a young age is the best thing instead of studying, which is why I believe that in the next 10 years of education kids are learning the valuable things in the real world. Such as how to manage money properly, learn to cook, clean, and wash the basics for a future.
As the years go on I hope that in 10 years, education has changed for the better. That when leaving their 5th grade graduation kids know how to clean after themselves, be organized with their work and have a mature mindset on what to expect when going into middle school. After middle school kids will know the basics in life by the age of 14 they will know how to wash, dry and fold their own clothes. As they graduate high school students know how to cook, drive, manage there own taxes, have a job, focus on a career, know how to manage money, and be prepared for the rough world. Not only will students learn about all the subjects in school but also learn how to survive once they are in a rough patch.
Lastly, in 10 years I hope to see higher level schools like high schools providing classes like forensics, law school, engineering, robotics, therapist, and more so students have the chance to see what it is to really be in the field of those careers. If they do find some interest in these careers they are able to receive tips on how far enough in what they choose. I hope that in 10 years schools are able to offer more realistic classes so students are more independent once they are let out in the real world and know where there head is heading towards.
