Tutoring Foundation by Freyja - June 2026 Scholarship Essay

If I could design a project to improve my high school, it would be a structured tutoring program. Throughout my time in this district, I've seen too many students struggle to grasp core material. Whether it's due to fast-paced instruction, overwhelming coursework, or simply losing confidence, these students need a dedicated space to catch up without falling behind. A formalized system wouldn't just offer extra help; it would ensure that no student gets lost in the shuffle.

If structured into homeroom hours, instead of early in the morning or late into the afternoon. Kids would have more flexibility to get their own time and not have to give up time they could have spent outside of school. One teacher from each department would be rotated each week to over look their specific teaching curriculum. Students can then either sign up for the week to whatever department class they need help with and wether or not they would prefer the teacher to explain or have another student who is qualified for the material to help them through. To discourage cheating or tomfoolery the students would have to go through a time stamp of when they signed in and out and limit the amount of enters unless approved by both the teacher and the principal.

I don't want to live in a world where potential is wasted just because the support system wasn't there. By building this program, I'm not just fixing grades; I'm giving my peers the confidence to stop guessing and start knowing.
