Spread Joy by Eric - December 2025 Scholarship Essay

If‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ I was the student body president candidate, the primary way of making a positive impact at school would be to create a culture where each student feels valued, supported, and deeply involved in the development of our community. Very often, student council is perceived as an entity that is far off—like a few people deciding everything without consultation. I would like to change that by providing real and regular means through which students can express their views and have a say in what happens on campus.

Firstly, I would convert student government into a truly representative body by holding public meetings, creating suggestion boxes, and having frequent contacts with classes and clubs. Students knowing that their voices will be heard is a strong motivation for them to participate, collaborate, and take responsibility for the school environment. This feeling of being part of a community can have a positive effect on everything from school spirit to academic confidence.

Identifying students' needs and resources is another important element of building a culture of support. This could be through the means of pushing for improved mental healthcare provisions, arranging tutor networks, or letting more students join different activities so everyone can discover what excites them. When we listen to each other attentively, and cooperate to tackle issues, I am sure we will have an inclusive school that is both stronger and successful.

The biggest aspiration of mine, after all, would be to facilitate every student's realization that this is their school and their view ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌counts.
