The effects and solution to slacking off by Eddie - May 2026 Scholarship Essay

A challenge that I once found intimidating was when I had struggled to keep my goals consistently, such as wanting to work my body and learning new skills. I always was either too lazy to do them, had school work overtake my time, or had no motivation to do it. But what made me change from that was me starting to see flaws in myself like sleeping late, gaining fat from my stomach, and my lack of motivation from keeping me up with discipline. Discipline was the answer to my problem because without discipline, my motivation weakens with only just imagination and not doing what I want to do. I decided to change the way I came home where I usually eat, be on my phone, feed my dogs, wait for my sister to get out of the shower, and then shower to go work on my school work. But I knew it only holds me back because of my distractions on my phone, so I decided to shower first after feeding my dogs and being off my phone more so I can have more time to finish work and get small breaks (2-3 minute ones ). I can finally be able to have time to work out and be able to start doing some skills like playing the guitar. This change had made me realize that I was slacking myself far too long and now I become more manageable again with my timing as well as scheduling so it better help me maturely focus on everything I need to do.
