My Aspirations by Ebony - May 2026 Scholarship Essay

AS an older student, I have to manage my time very carefully. I would get consumed with work and home life. I had to make sure my family is taken care of, and my work did not suffer, at the same time. I would get dates mixed up. I realized that I had to manage my time better. I began to write down in an organizer to help me sort out my time. Going to school after 30 years is very difficult. But with determination, I was able to stay on track. I have all of my assignments written down. This way, I know what I need to do. I was also able to set aside time for my family. I understand that things come up unexpectedly, but now I am prepared to handle them. Now, I make sure I do my work for school and work. I have now been able to stay at a 3.2 GPA. Knowing what the issue was helped me figure things out. Becoming a Social Worker for veterans will be my end goal. I understand they need help too. I would like to be the person they can look to in their time of need.
