A campus where everyone belongs by Deja - December 2025 Scholarship Essay
If I were running for student body president, the number one way I would hope to positively impact my school is by creating a more connected, supportive, and inclusive campus community where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.
My top priority would be to strengthen communication between students and administration so concerns whether academic, social, or mental health related are not ignored. I would establish open forums, suggestion platforms, and monthly check-ins so students have real opportunities to voice their needs and shape the environment they learn in.
I would also focus on expanding campus resources that support student well-being, including tutoring programs, mental health awareness initiatives, and community-building events that bring students together across different backgrounds. College can be stressful and overwhelming, especially for first-generation or underrepresented students, and I want to help create systems that make everyone feel supported rather than alone.
Most importantly, I want to foster a culture where kindness, respect, and understanding are the norm. By encouraging student-led service projects, peer support networks, and collaborative leadership opportunities, I hope to empower students to lift one another up both inside and outside the classroom.
My goal would be to leave the school better than I found it by ensuring that every student feels they belong and have a voice in shaping their college experience.
