Hi, I am Deanna Dixon. My prime passion that drives my academic career is my daughter. I am a huge fan of authenticity and telling my truth. After 10 years, I am currently a new divorcee and single mother. With this ever-changing world, more will be required, so I listened to my mother’s advice to go back to school to get my bachelor’s degree so that I can comfortably care for myself and my daughter without needing help from others. My daughter is definitely watching me. She sees me on the computer and says, “Mommy doing homework?” and I appreciate her little voice saying, “good job Mommy!” Her little voice and my mother’s loving support, while I’m in school, is my driving force to stay afloat and pace myself. Being a mother to a 4-year-old and a full-time college student at the same time is shaping many thought processes on how to stay balanced without becoming overwhelmed. As a Health Information Manager, being able to multi-task is a wonderful quality to possess whenever it is time to join the workforce as a team member. We all have a story to tell, but my story doesn’t define me. As an optimistic thinker, I’d rather take my lemons and make lemonade! My plan is to stay focused and build an even brighter future for myself and my daughter! She deserves a Mommy that she can be proud of, and I pray that she can follow in my footsteps by becoming the best version of her true, authentic self!
