As I sit at the bluffs, the sunrise spills across the horizon, painting the ocean in shades of gold and pink. Seagulls cry overhead, waves crash rhythmically against the shore, and the salty breeze carries a hint of morning freshness. For a few quiet moments, the chaos of deadlines, classes, and responsibilities fades, and I am simply present. Watching the sunrise has always been my favorite part of the day, it's the calm before the storm and a small reminder that each morning is a new beginning.
College is a new experience, and last year quickly showed me its challenges. I failed two classes, and for the first time, I felt the weight of disappointment and doubt. Being a first-generation student adds another layer of pressure; my parents cannot fully understand the stakes or the ambitions I carry. Yet those setbacks have become fuel, inspiring me to approach this year with greater determination and focus. My mistakes are reminders of what I can overcome and why I must work harder.
This year, my aspiration is personal growth through balance. I want to strengthen my academics, mastering accounting courses and prepare for an internship with a Big 4 firm, while also nurturing my friendships. My friends are part of this journey, we share late-night library sessions, endless doordash orders, we encourage each other, and navigate internship applications side by side. Their support motivates me, and together we push toward success.
What drives me is the desire to transform challenges into lessons and setbacks into opportunities. Each sunrise reminds me that every day is a fresh start, a chance to improve, grow, and take steps toward the future I am building for myself. By embracing balance, learning from mistakes, and leaning on my friends, I hope to make this year one of growth, resilience, and purpose.
