Learning From My Mistakes by Cruz - August 2026 Scholarship Essay
One experience that shaped my approach to learning was realizing that I do not always understand something the first time I try it. In the past, if I struggled with an assignment, I would sometimes get frustrated and want to give up. Over time, I learned that making mistakes is a normal part of learning.
This changed the way I approach school. Instead of thinking that I am not good at something when I make a mistake, I try to figure out what I did wrong and learn from it. I have also learned to ask questions when I do not understand something instead of staying quiet. This has helped me become more confident and willing to try difficult things.
Personally, this experience has taught me to be more patient with myself. I know that improvement takes time, and I do not have to be perfect right away. I have learned that putting in effort and continuing to try can be just as important as getting the right answer the first time.
Overall, this experience has helped me become a better learner and a more patient person. I now understand that challenges are opportunities to improve, and I try to use my mistakes as lessons that can help me do better in the future.
