From Self-Doubt to Success by Ciara - May 2026 Scholarship Essay

One challenge that once felt very intimidating to me was going back to school at 37 years old after being out of school for so long. Attending Full Sail University was exciting, but also overwhelming at first. I was trying to balance being a mother, caring for my children and newborn baby, dealing with depression, and staying focused on my education all at the same time. There were moments when I truly believed I would not make it through the program.

During my time in school, I also faced financial struggles and even lost my job, which made everything even more stressful. Trying to keep up with assignments while handling responsibilities at home felt impossible some days. However, what changed for me was realizing that I was stronger than I thought. I had professors who encouraged me, supported me, and reminded me not to give up. Their uplifting words, along with my determination to create a better future for my family, motivated me to keep pushing forward.

Over time, the challenge that once felt impossible became manageable because I learned how to believe in myself and keep going even during difficult moments. Now, I am close to graduating, something I once thought I could never achieve. Looking back, I am proud of myself for not giving up despite all the obstacles I faced. This experience taught me resilience, perseverance, and the importance of hard work, and it showed me that no matter how difficult life becomes, success is possible if you continue moving forward.
