Dear younger me, by Christopher - July 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I could give myself a speech about how to get the most out of life or how to change the choices that I made, I wouldn't change a thing. It is because of those choices that made me the person I am today. I would tell myself to laugh more, enjoy time and friends more because no day is promised to us. I would tell myself to spend more time with my grandparents. To absorb the knowledge and stories of how they grew up, to help me better plan for the world that I live in now .

If I knew then what I know now, fear and condemnation would not have power over me. My joys and pains would have never been lessons of growth. I would not have to learn by mistakes or hurt the people who loved me unconditionally. I would tell myself, live your life, you only get one. Make the most out of it with no regrets. But remember, old fools used to be young fools and although we have all done foolish things, learn from it once, don't keep repeating it.

In closing, everyday is a gift that's why it's call the present. I would say, make each day count for something for I have exchanged a day of my life. I want it to be good, not bad, gain not loss, success not failure so that I never regret the price that I am paying for it.
