Education is the most powerful tool for building the skills needed to succeed and have influence. My future educational plans center around earning a degree in Mass Communication at a 4-year university because I am eager to develop an expert-level skill set in communications, which is vital to my career goal of becoming a sports commentator. Commentating in many sports worldwide is an opportunity to connect with famous athletes and other commentators to give live coverage of football games, track & field meets, and basketball games that offer the best experience for sports fans. What excites me about Mass communication is that you have many sports media and journalism options. It is a firsthand experience when you get the opportunity to broadcast college football games and interview athletes and coaches during halftime and at the end of the game. You develop many skills, such as communicating with others, building relationships, and most importantly, having fun. By my 8th grade year of middle school, I knew this would be my future, I would watch the halftime shows and watch people such as Stephen A. Smith, Skipp Bayless, Shannon Sharpe, and John Madden commentate the games and speak about stats of teams in all kinds of sports while breaking them down regarding who was going to win, who was favored, and whose the underdog is in each game.
Mass Communication was the one major that spoke to me. It is all about evaluating and listening to opinions about teams, players, stats, championships, playoff stories, and the sound arguments between each commentator that make it entertaining to watch and listen to. As a high school senior entering my final stages of high school, I am committed to obtaining a bachelor’s degree in mass communication at a 4-year university that would teach me and allow me to connect with famous alums in my field of study, which could assist me with my skills of being a good commentator for sports. However, paying for college is the first step to achieving my bachelor’s degree. The obstacle that is holding me back is the college expenses. As a student from a single-parent household pursuing a degree in Mass Communications at a 4-year university, I genuinely need financial assistance to help me achieve my educational goals. My family’s economic situation has presented significant challenges, making it difficult to cover the costs of tuition, books, and other essential expenses. Receiving this scholarship would not only alleviate the financial burden but also allow me to focus entirely on my studies and academic pursuits, enabling me to contribute meaningfully to my chosen field after graduation.
