Reflection on an Academic Project - Cameron Turner by Cameron - October 2026 Scholarship Essay

As a Senior in high school this year, I have completed many meaningful academic research projects throughout my educational career thus far all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. One of the most inspiring projects I have completed was a model of the human brain on a Styrofoam manakin head for my Advanced Placement Psychology course. I am sure that highlighting this project may seem silly to others but for me it helped me to realize the subject that I aspire to build my college and professional career expertise in. I became so fascinated by the functionality and untapped potential of the brain. As a result of that project, I aim to advance my education by majoring in psychology with a concentration in neurology through the pursuit of a research-based doctorate degree in neuropsychology. I hope to be a positive contributor to the world as a direct result of that fun and creative AP Psych project. Ultimately, it would be of immense importance to me to achieve professional merit for work outcomes that benefit the world in the research sector in some way. Most importantly, I am remaining flexible about what life offers and giving it my best while maintaining the goalpost that my AP Psych academic project helped me to shape for my future.
