My Motivations for my Dreams by Caden - August 2025 Scholarship Essay
This being my first year in college, I would say I have many aspirations for this upcoming school year, from finding what I want to major in to learning how to live independently.
My first aspiration is to find out what I want to major in at college this year. My goal is to decide what I want to major in this upcoming school year because I have so many interests and ideas, which sometimes gets me overwhelmed because I don't know what path to choose, but this motivates me to determine what major I want because I want to have a clear plan early on in my college experience so that I don't reach my junior year still not knowing what to do. This is the reason pushing me to explore and to figure out early this upcoming school year.
For this upcoming school year, I consider the new experiences and opportunities I will have, one of them being to live independently. This is my second aspiration to become proficient in living independently. I will have to learn to live on my own, provide for my needs, organize work, school, and family into my schedule on my own. The act of leaving my family and home, where I have everything from food, shelter, and clothing provided for me to come to college for my freshman year of school is what inspires me to learn to live independently and gain new skills by having to learn for myself.
Deciding on my major and learning how to live independently at college are big Goals I am motivated to accomplish this school year. I don't think it will be easy to accomplish these goals, but the motivation to set myself up for success early in my college career by identifying my major earlier rather than later is what motivates me to find it. And to grow as a person and to become strong and independent by taking a leap of faith to leave home and the comforts therein to learn to do the basic necessities of life for myself, specifically in the college environment, drives me and is my road to achieving my goal to live independently.
