Mental Health & Kindness Campaign by Blair - June 2026 Scholarship Essay
William Shakespeare once said, “Make not your thoughts your own prisons.”
Mental health has become one of the most discussed topics in modern society, yet it still carries a stigma that prevents many people from seeking help. News stories and social media frequently highlight the growing mental health crisis among teens and young people, especially as issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and suicide continue to rise. One factor that has contributed significantly to these struggles is cyberbullying. Growing up in a world dominated by technology and social media has created new challenges that previous generations did not face. Despite increased awareness, many individuals still suffer in silence because they fear being judged or misunderstood. This is the “why” of the project, now, let me tell you about the project.
The project I would design to improve my high school would be a student mental health and kindness campaign. Since I want to be an animation student in college, I would want televisions in the common area and throughout the school displaying animations, student art, social media content and awareness about anti-bullying and mental health awareness. This project would also give students in the art department a chance to showcase their artwork. Including others is just as important as spreading mental health awareness!
In summary, many students struggle with anxiety, stress, or bullying. A positive school culture can improve student well-being and academic success. By interweaving technology, art, animation, and mental health awareness, I can use my creative talents along with others in the art department, to make lasting impacts on the lives of my peers.
