A Year of Growth: Building Knowledge, Memories, and Self by Adriana - August 2025 Scholarship Essay
As I begin this upcoming school year, I have set several aspirations that I believe will help me grow both academically and personally. My goals include continuing to learn about the human body to prepare for my future in therapy, making meaningful memories during my college experience, and bettering myself in every aspect of life. These goals are tied not only to my education but also to my personal growth and my dream of becoming an occupational therapist.
My first goal is to deepen my understanding of the human body. Now that I have chosen my major, Health and Human Performance, I am eager to learn how the body functions, heals, and adapts. The more I learn, the better prepared I will be to help others through therapy. Courses in anatomy, physiology, and rehabilitation techniques will provide me with the foundation needed for my career. I plan to actively engage in discussions, apply what I learn during labs, and seek out extra resources to strengthen my knowledge. Knowing that this education will one day allow me to help patients regain independence motivates me to give my best effort in every class.
My second aspiration is to make lasting memories during the school year. College is an exciting chapter in my life, and I want to take full advantage of all the opportunities it offers outside the classroom. I hope to attend campus events, join clubs and activities that interest me, and spend time with friends while building new connections. I want to enjoy the simple moments like studying with classmates, cheering at games, exploring new places, and sharing experiences that I’ll carry with me long after graduation. Meeting people from different backgrounds and learning from their perspectives will help me grow as a person while creating memories that last a lifetime.
Lastly, I want to focus on becoming the best version of myself. This means improving my study habits, staying disciplined, and continuing to nurture qualities like empathy, patience, and resilience. I hope to challenge myself in new ways, whether it's by stepping into leadership roles, volunteering, or trying things that push me beyond my comfort zone. Most importantly, I want to find happiness and peace within myself by balancing hard work with self-care and reflection.
What drives me to accomplish these goals is my passion for helping others and my determination to create a better future for myself and my family. Every step I take this school year will bring me closer to achieving my dreams. With hard work and dedication, I know I can make them a reality.
