What aspirations do you have for the upcoming school year and what motivates you to achieve them? by Adrian - August 2025 Scholarship Essay

This year, I’m focusing on three things: doing well in my classes, stepping up as a leader, and continuing projects that tie medicine and technology together. In school, I plan to take on tough science courses and keep my grades strong while still managing my other responsibilities. I’m loading my schedule with challenging science classes this year and doing my best to keep high grades while balancing the rest of my commitments. Biology and anatomy are my main focus because they give me the foundation I’ll need for my ultimate goal—becoming a neurosurgeon.
In leadership, I plan to make a bigger impact as an officer in the Science National Honor Society by creating more opportunities for tutoring and volunteer work. Helping other students grasp challenging concepts is something I’ve enjoyed for years, and I want to expand that to reach more people.
On the project side, I’m continuing to develop my Roblox-based hospital simulation and my medical guessing game, Medicle. Both let me merge coding with healthcare concepts in ways that make learning interactive and accessible. This year, I aim to incorporate more realistic patient scenarios and share these projects with a broader audience—particularly younger students who may be interested in medicine. My motivation comes from seeing how the things I work on now can matter outside of school. While volunteering at the hospital and taking EMT shifts, I learned that even small efforts—a reassuring word, helping someone get comfortable—can matter a lot to a patient. That’s what keeps me pushing forward. Whether I’m building a triage system in Roblox or helping someone in person, I treat each experience as practice for the kind of work I want to do in the future.
By the end of this school year, I want to look back and know I’ve not only learned new things, but also applied them to help others—whether that’s through teaching, technology, or direct patient care. That’s what keeps me motivated every day.
