Repetition by Adalynn - September 2026 Scholarship Essay

My academic success is defined by repetition of concepts and material. Repeating information leads to being able to retain it more easily. Tools like study guides, flashcards, practice questions, or practice tests can all help you go over information multiple times so that you don't forget it. These can all help, but different people have different ways that feel right for them.

When I am trying to remember information for a quiz or test, I always make flash cards. Making these cards helps me by reviewing the material over and over again. Writing definitions or questions with answers helps me get to know all of the topics, and reviewing them over and over again leads to me knowing the answers before I even finish the question. The more you repeat or go over information, the more likely you are to remember it. If you go over flash cards every night before bed a few days before a quiz or test, you will probably be able to remember the correct information more clearly than if you hadn't studied at all. I know this is true for myself, so I always come back to the flashcards before taking an important quiz or test because I have figured out what study method helps me succeed academically.
