The Law School Admission Test is a standardized exam student's need to perform well on to attend most law schools. Like many graduate level exams, the LSAT tests students on their reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, and logical reasoning. There is also a writing sample required for the exam, but it does not contribute to your final score. Instead, it is sent to the law schools you apply to. For students with dream schools that require this exam, scoring well on the LSAT is important. Students with lofty goals may want to be as prepared as possible for the exam, and working with a tutor is a great way to do this. Varsity Tutors' educational directors can help you find a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, LSAT tutor.

Students studying for the LSAT may require additional help in preparing, as the exam covers more than the standard problems learned in school. The analytical reasoning and logic sections of the exam look at logic games and analyzing problems in a quantitative method. This manner of thinking may come easily to some, but for others, it takes extra study to master. A private can create a study plan to work with you on this. An LSAT tutor in Philadelphia can analyze your current skills and determine the areas in which you need the most help. Whether this is in making inferences or strengthening arguments, a knowledgeable tutor can discuss how to go about identifying these concepts.

This session the student and I continued working on logic games. We started learning about sequencing games in particular. We had worked on a couple of those types of games when they came up in her class, but we hadn't really gotten a chance to go through the rules of how to attack them. We did a couple of practice drills setting up these types of rules and games. I then sent her two different sequencing games that we worked through together. After we finished and she had gotten the hang of them, we went back and worked on another linear/grouping combination game.

LSAT Tutoring review by Paul in Philadelphia, PA
During our first meeting, the student and I discussed his previous experience with and knowledge of the LSAT. We worked through a set of logic games from a practice test and looked at some examples of argument types. I think the student does have a good base of knowledge for the logic games and arguments, and we will work to refine his knowledge, fill in any holes and improve his speed on the sections.

LSAT Tutoring review by Michael in Philadelphia, PA
We switched focus to Logical Reasoning for this session, at the student's request. Primarily, we focused on weakening questions, exploring the role of cause and effect in arguments. Near the end of the session , we experimented with a new strategy for attacking critical reading passages. Namely, the student will quickly skim the passages to first try to recognize the structure of the passages and the overall themes, and then read again for understanding. This is an attempt to increase his overall speed, which was hampered by the need for multiple full readings of the passages.

LSAT Tutoring review by David in Philadelphia, PA
The student and I worked on logical reasoning today. She completed the logical reasoning sections of a prep test and worked through chapters 1-6 of a logical reasoning book. We discussed the questions that she got wrong and what lessons can be drawn from our discussion. She will continue to work on the remaining chapters of the book and work on the remaining sections of a prep test. We were able to work through her questions fairly quickly. We agreed to "save" the remaining 20 minute for the next session and account for it accordingly.

LSAT Tutoring review by Austin in Philadelphia, PA
Today we walked through several fundamental skills. We began our lesson by doing exercises that help us understand how to read logic game questions in a way that allows us to know what the correct answer will look like as well as the four wrong answers. Remember, the right and wrong answers are always mirrored as must/could or could/must. From there we went on to create an outline for how to approach every logic game, and included a checklist of things to watch out for before heading into the questions proper. For the final part of our lesson we did an entire logic game and went step by step through the whole process to solve the game without any major issues.
