I'm a junior at MIT pursuing a B.S. in Computational Neuroscience, and a B.S. in Philosophy. Starting in high school, I have served in a multitude of teaching/tutoring roles, including: tutoring all levels of high school math (from pre-algebra to AP Calculus BC); teaching a six-week class on psychology to underserved high school students in the Boston area; teaching chemistry, biology, and computer science at a STEM summer camp to 6th-9th graders; working as a TA in a college-level philosophy seminar; and even teaching choreo for a hip-hop dance workshop series! And, though my teaching experience centers largely around STEM subjects, I also have a deep love for history, English, and philosophy, and am excited to work with students in these areas as well. In general, I have an intense passion for learning anything and everything, and my top goal when working with any student is to ignite their own curiosity, and awaken their inner desire to understand themselves and the world.

I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where I studied history and political science. I have been tutoring for 7 years and love to help students do well. I have a particular love for government, American history, and trivia, but I have experience tutoring in a variety of subjects! SAT and AP tutoring is my specialty. I am passionate about helping students because I've been a student my whole life! Even though I'm a professor now, I love to learn. And now that I have experience, I love to help others along the learning journey. I have degrees in English and education from Rice University, UT Austin, Texas State, and Texas A&M. I also studied abroad in England at the University of East Anglia and have traveled to many countries. I tutor English and Spanish (my family is from Mexico City). My favorite thing to tutor is writing, and I have taught writing from the Kindergarten-graduate school (Ph.D.) level (what I currently do). Currently I am a graduate student in Stanford University's Master's Program for Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling. Prior to my enrollment at Stanford, I worked as a Genetic Counseling Assistant for Igenomix, a genetic testing laboratory. I graduated from Cornell University in December of 2021 with a BS in Biological Sciences and a minor in Education. As a student, I was a member of a research lab that works with the genetic basis of epilepsy in fruit flies as well as an undergraduate TA for a genetics laboratory course at Cornell. While I tutor a range of subjects, I am most passionate about tutoring biology and genetics, as that is where most of my expertise lies. I have enjoyed tutoring SAT and ACT math and science sections in the past and have found students have great success on these stressful tests after seeking out help from tutors like me. In my free time I love watching TV shows with my friends, being active, and painting. I am also a Crisis Text Line volunteer and enjoy taking shifts to help people through difficult times.

I am a recent college graduate from the University of New Hampshire, where I majored in Secondary Math Education. I am in the process of obtaining my Nevada teaching certification & licensure and will ultimately be working in the Clark County School District as a middle and/or high school math teacher. I have worked as a tutor and part-time math teacher for 3+ years. I have experience in and am comfortable with ALL high school math subjects, PSAT prep, SAT prep and ACT prep. The biggest reason that I want to be a teacher and tutor is because I have seen too many people struggle with mathematics topics, get overlooked by their teachers, become frustrated and ultimately give up and end up fearing everything and anything that has to do with math. I understand that not everyone learns in the same way and that sometimes you need a different perspective and way of looking at a particular problem to understand it. That is exactly what I do in my teaching and tutoring - I will meet you where you are in your learning experience and help break math back down to the basics. In my free time, I am an avid sports fan and athlete - I played basketball, baseball and soccer in both high school and college and I have worked as a coach, umpire and referee for 5+ years.

I'm a Columbia University graduate with a degree in Applied Mathematics, currently working as a quantitative energy markets consultant for Fortune 500 companies. My daily work involves navigating the energy transition through the language of mathematics, and I bring that same real-world "bridge" to my students. My core philosophy has remained the same since I began tutoring a decade ago: education shouldn't be intimidating. I love guiding students through the joy of learning and helping them realize that difficult topics, if viewed from a fresh perspective, are far more manageable than they might think. Outside of my professional work, I'm a nature nerd and avid runner.

Hey I'm Jake and I'm a junior studying Finance and Applied Math at Pepperdine University! I've been doing private tutoring for over six years now and have taught all kinds of topics on all different levels of math, from Algebra to AP Calculus BC.
