I am an Arizona native. Upon graduating from Desert Mountain High School, I attended Rice University and I received my Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with a business focus. At Rice I was a student/athlete representing the Division I Owls in track and field. After several years experience voluntarily tutoring friends and family members I became a professional private tutor my junior year of college. My senior year, I took advantage of the opportunity to reach more students, creating a small private tutoring company in Houston in which I served as lead tutor and conducted all business operations.

I'm fairly new to formal tutoring but I've been helping my five children with their homework for the last 18 years. I consider math and science my favorite subjects, with physics being one of my most favorite. When I'm coaching a student, I believe in a very tailored approach which encourages and strengthens the knowledge and skills that a student has and then adds the information that is needed to succeed. Rote memorization is not my strong suit, I believe in really understanding the underlying organizing principles. In my other job I design houses, and when I'm not doing that I love to read, and hike and do some woodworking now and then.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students across Casa Grande with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. With 37 schools and over 18,000 students in the area served by 6 different school districts, we work with learners at every grade level and academic stage—whether they attend public schools, charter schools, or are homeschooled.
Casa Grande students frequently seek help with math, English language arts, science, and test preparation for standardized assessments like the Arizona AIMS and SAT/ACT. We also support students in specialized areas like algebra, geometry, chemistry, and writing—subjects that build foundational skills for high school success and college readiness.
Casa Grande's average student-teacher ratio of 24.4:1 means many students benefit from individualized attention that classroom instruction alone can't always provide. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to focus entirely on a student's specific learning gaps, learning style, and pace—filling in gaps and building confidence in ways that larger classroom settings can't match.
Tutors work with students to master Arizona's academic standards across math, English language arts, science, and social studies. Whether a student is working toward grade-level proficiency, preparing for AIMS assessments, or getting ahead, personalized instruction ensures they understand key concepts and can apply them—not just memorize for tests.
The first session is about getting to know your student—their strengths, challenges, learning style, and goals. The tutor will assess where they stand academically, understand what they need help with, and create a personalized plan moving forward. This foundation helps ensure every future session is targeted and effective.
Tutoring costs vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. Varsity Tutors works with families to find options that fit their budget and schedule. We recommend contacting us directly to discuss your student's needs and get a personalized quote.
Tutors are vetted professionals with expertise in their subjects—many have teaching backgrounds, advanced degrees, or years of tutoring experience. Each tutor is matched to a student based on their academic needs and learning style, ensuring a strong fit for personalized instruction.
Results vary by student, but many see improved grades, stronger test scores, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of challenging subjects. The key is consistent, personalized instruction tailored to each student's needs—which is what 1-on-1 tutoring provides that classroom instruction alone often can't.
