French Tutoring review by Jessica in Westchester, NY
We began this session with a reading passage, followed by some multiple choice questions. The student is doing a great job of recalling information she reads and, if she doesn't remember a certain detail, she does a great job of going back to the passage to look for that information. We then did some mixed math review, followed by some practice with quarter-hours on the clock. We finished up with some more calendar work for the month of February, including practicing writing "February" and "Valentine's Day" using very neat penmanship.

French Tutoring review by Jane (Elizabeth) in Westchester, NY
Went over basic SAT strategy with the student and assessed her performance in the essay and all three multiple choice sections. She is using strategy well- she omits when she should omit, and uses her time wisely. I think familiarizing her with the way the SAT words questions and improving her ability to do the work quickly will be the biggest key to improving her scores, as she seems to have a pretty solid grasp of the concepts that the SAT tests.

The student has some trouble dividing numbers with 2 digits into multiple digits, so we will practice even more with that. Today the student and I discussed what he got wrong on the assessment. The student and I discussed on how to figure out extended story problems. He starts his next unit, which goes over fractions and probability. We discussed reducing fractions and understanding probability.

French Tutoring review by Bryan in Westchester, NY
The student and I worked on some of the fundamentals of addition. We applied a practice in which he himself attributes point values to each numeral he sees. This is a bridge to being able to add numbers without the need for "dots" describing each number.

French Tutoring review by Kate in Westchester, NY
The student's homework from last session included three exercises from the book to complete our study of the passe compose. At the beginning of our session, we checked these exercises for accuracy, and they were primarily correct. After answering his questions, we moved on to our next lesson, which was on second past tense, l'imparfait. This tense is much easier to conjugate, and he picked it up right away with a few practice verbs. Together, we completed an exercise utilizing only the imparfait and also one mixing the two past tenses we have learned. For homework, I assigned him two exercises from the book.
